I’ve just returned from a fantastic weekend at the Midwest Autumn Craft Round Up held in Dongara, Western Australia.
The Midwest Autumn Craft Round Up is a two-day weekend event filled with hands-on art and craft workshops with tutors who have been recognised locally, nationally and internationally for their work. Students had the opportunity to learn from these professionals, meet new friends and catch up with old ones.
I was invited for the second time to teach at the event and hosted two workshops, a creative zentangle drawing class and another in metal embossing.
The Creative Zentangle Drawing class was booked out and the students really got into the ‘Zen mode’ with breathing deeply and drawing one stoke at a time. It was a really relaxed and fun atmosphere. The drawing patterns learnt by the students were utilised on a tile and then drawn to create a bigger picture.
Day two of the Midwest Autumn Craft Round Up, students learnt skills in Metal Embossing onto pewter sheeting. The process was a little challenging for some students however they all achieved a beautifully framed embossed picture.
If you are interested in attending next years event, it’s currently scheduled for: 2017 – Sat 8th & Sun 9th April, be sure to put it into your diary!
