Introducing Silver Metal Clay

Silver Metal Clay is a revolutionary new medium from Japan, which allows you to create 99.9% pure silver jewellery. It consists of very small particles of silver mixed with an organic binder and water. The metal clay can be moulded, textured, carved and sculpted; it is then fired with a torch or fired in a kiln to transform it into silver.

During this hands on class you will be able to create two to three pieces of jewellery depending on the size and will introduce you to the infinite possibilities of this medium.

You will learn to manipulate the clay into various shapes suitable for jewellery items. You can texture the clay, roll sheets of clay and add other textured sheets and embellishments. You will also set gemstones, refine your work and then learn how to hand fire your clay with a butane torch, which will allow you to continue working with this clay at home without a kiln. Adding colour to your work with patina will also be covered.

Class fee $88 plus Materials $55 (16grms PMC) Additional clay will be available for the enthusiastic student.
